Right now: One of the two saunas here burned out in July 2026 and the council has decided not to replace it, so expect one sauna rather than two. Eucalyptus oil is now banned - pouring it on the heater is what caused the fire. Expected back to normal after 30 June 2027.
How we know: movemv.com.au/ascot-vale-leisure-centre-sauna-2/, a notice dated 24 July 2026: the sauna 2 heating unit caught fire on 21 July 2026, the cause was eucalyptus oil poured on it, and "installation costs for replacement... did not represent best value to ratepayers". Michael found this on 2026-09-24.
Open 5am to 11pm at the start of the week, which is the longest day of anywhere on this site, public or private. Sauna and steam off a 25 metre pool, plus a warm water pool and a spa.\nMoonee Valley's own council page still advertises TWO saunas. There is one. The second burned out in July 2026 and is not being replaced.
